At The Brow Project, we’re all about delivering safe, effective, and flawless results. Before you step into your first appointment, there are a few essential steps to ensure you’re prepared for your treatment and that your results are nothing short of amazing. Let’s walk you through everything you need to know—from medical clearance to pre- and post-treatment care.

Medical Clearance: Your First Step

Before booking any laser or microneedling treatment, it’s essential to be medically cleared. Here’s how it works:

  1. Complete Your “Good Faith Evaluation”: Upon booking, you’ll receive an email from Spa Kinect to complete your $25 mandatory, non-negotiable medical clearance evaluation. This ensures we’re addressing your unique skin needs safely.

  2. Annual Clearance: Once cleared, your evaluation is valid for 12 months, so you’re good to go for any follow-up treatments within that period. Every 12 months, you'll need to complete another evaluation.

Pre-Care: Prep for Success

Proper preparation sets the stage for optimal results. Here’s how to get your skin ready:

  • Avoid Sun Exposure: Stay out of the sun, tanning beds, and avoid sunless tanning products for at least two weeks before and after your treatment. Sun exposure can interfere with the effectiveness and safety of your treatment.

  • Pause Harsh Skincare: Discontinue retinoids, exfoliants, and other harsh products at least one week before your session.

  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated and ready for treatment.

  • Use Sunscreen: Apply a high-SPF, broad-spectrum sunscreen daily, especially if you have sensitive skin.

  • Pre-Treat Melasma: If you have melasma, consider pre-treating with a hydroquinone product as directed by your practitioner.

  • Avoid Waxing or Depilatories: Skip waxing and chemical hair removal in the treatment area for at least two weeks before and after your session.

  • Pause Certain Medications: Stop taking Accutane at least six months before your appointment. Avoid aspirin, Motrin, and other photosensitizing or blood-thinning medications one week prior.

  • Update Your Practitioner: Notify your provider of any changes to your medical history, health status, or medications.

  • Wear Appropriate Clothing: Wear something you'll be comfortable in that provides appropriate accessibility to your service area.

Post-Care: Protect and Heal Your Skin

Taking care of your skin after your treatment is just as important as the session itself. Follow these tips to maximize healing and results:

  • Cleanse Gently: Use a mild, non-abrasive cleanser and lukewarm water to clean the treated area. Avoid scrubbing or using hot water.

  • Moisturize Often: Keep the skin hydrated with a recommended moisturizer or aloe vera gel.

  • Shield from the Sun: Always use sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to protect against pigmentation changes and sun damage.

  • Avoid Irritation: Don’t rub, scratch, or pick at the treated area. This can cause scarring or uneven healing.

  • Cool Compresses: If redness or swelling occurs, soothe the area with a cool compress.

  • Skip the Heat: Avoid hot water, saunas, steam rooms, or strenuous activities for a few days post-treatment.

  • Wait on Makeup: Hold off on applying makeup for at least 24 hours to allow your skin to heal.

  • Monitor for Reactions: Watch for severe redness, swelling, blistering, or signs of infection, and contact your practitioner immediately if needed.

Why Pre- and Post-Care Matter

Your laser and microneedling results depend on how you care for your skin before and after treatment. Following these steps ensures your skin heals properly, retains its glow, and stays protected from complications.
