- PICOSure Pro Downtime & Side Effects: What to Actually Expect After Treatment
PICOSure Pro Brow Tone If you've been considering PICOSure Pro laser treatments, chances are you've already gone down the Google rabbit hole, peppering the search bar with questions like: "Does it hurt?" "Will I peel?" "How much downtime is there?" "Will I have to hide out at home for a week?" As someone who performs PICOSure Pro laser tattoo removal, Brow Tone, and skin rejuvenation treatments every single day, I 100% understand the hesitation. Anytime we're talking about lasers, it's natural to wonder what recovery looks like. The good news? One of the biggest reasons I invested in PICOSure Pro is because it offers impressive results without the lengthy downtime many people associate with laser treatments. So let's talk about what you can realistically expect: First, Why Does PICO LASER Have Less Downtime? BBL, PICO + Fraxel, oh my! In a world of a thousand & counting lasers on the market, not a single one works in the exact same way. Much of the older laser technology often relies heavily on heat to break down pigment or resurface the skin. While those treatments can be effective, they can also create more inflammation, more recovery time, and more disruption to your daily life. PICOSure Pro uses ultra-short picosecond pulses that create a powerful photomechanical effect rather than relying primarily on heat. Essentially, instead of generating significant thermal damage the laser delivers energy incredibly quickly. This allows it to target pigment or stimulate collagen with greater precision. For most clients, that translates to: Less inflammation Faster recovery Minimal interruption to daily activities Comfortable healing It's one of many reasons picosecond lasers have become such a popular choice for modern aesthetic treatments. Downtime After Brow Tone If you're having Brow Tone to lighten old permanent makeup, recovery is usually very manageable. Immediately after treatment, you may notice: Mild redness Slight swelling Temporary whitening or frosting of the pigment A feeling similar to a mild sunburn Most of these effects improve within the first day or two. Some clients experience light flaking as the skin heals, but it's generally subtle and easy to manage. One thing that surprises many people is that the pigment doesn't disappear immediately. Timeline-wise, laser treatment begins the process but your immune system continues clearing fragmented pigment over the following weeks. Healing happens after you walk out of the studio doors. Downtime After Laser Tattoo Removal Now, tattoo removal tends to produce a slightly different healing response because we're treating larger areas of pigment. Common side effects include: Redness Mild swelling Temporary frosting immediately after treatment Occasional blistering Tenderness for several days Blisters can sound alarming if you've never experienced them before, but they're actually a fairly normal part of the healing process for some clients. Think of them as your body's natural protective dressing. The key is to leave them alone (!!!) and allow them to heal naturally. Most people are able to return to normal daily activities immediately, with only minor adjustments while the treated area recovers. Downtime After PICOSure Pro Skin Rejuvenation If we're talking fears about downtime, this is probably the treatment people worry about the most... and usually the one they're pleasantly surprised by! After skin rejuvenation treatments, you may notice: Mild redness Slight swelling Warmth similar to a mild sunburn Skin that feels a little dry or tight Pigment darkening Temporary skin purging Unlike more aggressive resurfacing lasers, most clients are not dealing with heavy peeling or extended downtime. In fact, many people return to work, errands, or dinner plans the very same day! It's essentially a "lunchtime laser" meaning you could go back out into the world and no one would realistically have a clue you just had your face PICO'd. Your skin simply continues improving over the following weeks as collagen production increases. Common Side Effects of PICOSure Pro Now like any medical aesthetic treatment, side effects are possible. Fortunately, most are temporary and completely expected. These may include: Redness // Usually resolves within several hours to a couple of days. Swelling // Often mild and short-lived. Frosting // A temporary whitening effect immediately after laser treatment that disappears quickly. Dryness // Particularly common after skin rejuvenation treatments. Mild Tenderness // Most clients describe it as feeling similar to a mild sunburn. These responses are all simply just signs that your body is beginning its natural healing process. What About Bruising? Bruising isn't common with PICOSure Pro, but it can happen depending on: The treatment area Individual skin sensitivity Certain medications or supplements If bruising occurs, know that it's typically mild and temporary. Can PICOSure Pro Cause Scarring? This is one of the biggest myths surrounding laser treatments. When performed appropriately by a trained provider, PICOSure Pro has a very low risk of scarring. Following proper aftercare instructions and allowing your skin to heal naturally are some of the best ways to support a smooth recovery. How Can You Minimize Downtime? Fortunately, your aftercare is quite straightforward & simple. Before + after treatment: Stay hydrated Wear sunscreen daily (which you should be already doing 👀) Avoid sun exposure 14 days before/after Follow your personalized aftercare instructions Be patient with the healing process The healthier your skin is going into treatment, the smoother recovery often is afterward. When Will You See Results? This really depends on what we're treating. Generally, the timelines are as follows: Brow Tone Microblading Removal // Pigment continues fading over the following months. Tattoo Removal // Your body gradually clears fragmented ink between treatments. The biggest improvements often happen months after continued sessions, not during it. Skin Rejuvenation // Many clients notice an initial glow, but collagen remodeling continues for weeks after treatment. * It takes 12 weeks for new collagen and elastin to remodel in the skin. Some of the best results require juuust a little patience. The Bottom Line One of the reasons PICOSure Pro has become one of my favorite technologies is because of how effortlessly it fits into real life. People want effective treatments... but they also have jobs, families, workouts, weddings, vacations, and dinner reservations. They don't necessarily want a week spent hiding at home - I mean, especially now that Love Island is over; what would they watch?! PICOSure Pro offers a balance that modern clients appreciate: advanced technology, effective results & a downtime period that's often far, far less than people would expect. It's the shining example to prove that you don't always have to choose between results and convenience - 🎶 You get the best of both worlds 🎶 with PICO! - The Ultimate PICOSure Pro FAQ: Everything You Need to Know Before Your First Pico Laser Treatment
If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me what the PICOSure Pro laser was... I could probably buy another laser quite comfortably. Whether you're considering laser tattoo removal, Brow Tone, or PICOSure Pro skin rejuvenation, it's completely normal to have questions. After all, lasers sound a little intimidating, and with so many types, techniques & models out there it can all be super overwhelming! Modern laser technology has come a loooong way. At The Brow Project, we've been performing PICOSure Pro laser treatments for clients across Dallas, Fort Worth, and the DFW area for over a year now, and we've heard just about every question imaginable. Rather than making you piece together answers from Google, endlessly scroll for answers on TikTok or go down the Reddit rabbit hole (*shudders*) - I thought I'd put everything in one place, categorized, just for you 😘 - - - General PICO LASER Questions What is PICOSure Pro? PICOSure Pro is an advanced picosecond laser that can be used for multiple treatments, including: | Laser tattoo removal | Brow Tone (permanent makeup pigment lightening) | Skin rejuvenation | Pigmented lesion treatment | Acne scar improvement | Fine line and texture refinement Unlike older laser systems that rely heavily on heat, PICOSure Pro delivers ultra-short bursts of energy measured in picoseconds (one trillionth of a second). This creates a powerful photomechanical effect that breaks apart pigment and stimulates collagen while minimizing unnecessary heat to surrounding tissue. TL;DR - it's one of the most advanced laser platforms available today. What makes PICOSure Pro different from older lasers? Older nanosecond lasers primarily rely on heat to break apart pigment. PICOSure Pro uses picosecond technology, which shatters pigment into much smaller particles that your body can naturally eliminate over time. For skin rejuvenation, it also stimulates collagen production with less thermal injury than many traditional resurfacing lasers. For many clients, this means: | More efficient treatments | Less downtime | Better comfort | Excellent cosmetic outcomes Does PICO LASER hurt? Everyone's pain tolerance is different, but generally most clients describe it as quick snaps against the skin, often compared to a rubber band or hot sand. The sensation is brief because each laser pulse lasts only a fraction of a second. Most people find it much more manageable than they initially expect! Is there downtime? One of the biggest reasons as to why people choose PICOSure Pro is because recovery is typically minimal. Depending on the treatment, you may experience: | Mild redness | Temporary swelling | Warmth similar to a mild sunburn | Light dryness Most clients return to normal activities the same day. How many sessions will I need? Unfortunately there isn't a one-size-fits-all answer. The number of treatments depends on: | Your goals | The condition being treated | Pigment depth | Tattoo colors | Previous treatments | Your body's natural healing process That's why every treatment plan begins with a consultation. - - - Pico Laser Tattoo Removal FAQs How does PICOSure tattoo removal work? The laser breaks tattoo ink into tiny particles that your immune system gradually clears over the following weeks. Your body does the removing; the laser simply starts the process. Can PICOSure remove colored tattoos? Many tattoo colors (black, blue, green, and certain other pigments) often respond very well to picosecond laser technology. That being said; some colors are more challenging than others -hence why an in-person consultation is the best way to evaluate what results you can realistically expect. Will laser tattoo removal leave a scar? When performed properly and followed with appropriate aftercare, the risk of scarring is very low. In fact, most tattoos that scar during removal already had scar tissue from when they were originally applied. Why does my tattoo look darker after treatment? Temporary darkening can happen as pigment particles change before your body clears them. This is usually part of the normal healing process, not a sign that the treatment didn't work. Can I work out after tattoo removal? Light activity is generally fine, but we usually recommend avoiding intense exercise for the first 24 to 48 hours to minimize excess heat, friction, and irritation in the treated area. Think "Active Rest Day" in terms of ideal activity level! - - - Brow Tone & PMU Removal FAQs What is Brow Tone? Brow Tone is our signature PICOSure Pro treatment designed to lighten or remove unwanted permanent makeup pigment. Instead of continuing to tattoo over old brows with correction colors, Brow Tone creates a cleaner canvas for future PMU or simply softens existing brows for a more natural look. Will laser remove my eyebrow hair? This is probably the question I answer most often - and in the vast majority of cases, the answer is a resounding no. One of the biggest advantages of using PICOSure Pro for Brow Tone is that we're targeting pigment while preserving the brow hair itself. Can I lighten my brows instead of removing them completely? Absolutely. Many clients don't want complete removal. They simply want to soften overly saturated brows or reduce unwanted color shifts before refreshing their permanent makeup! Can gray or blue brows be corrected? Yes; and in many cases, laser is now considered a much more modern approach than repeatedly layering corrective pigment over old work. Often, removing or lightening the existing pigment first creates a much better long-term result. How long should I wait before getting new permanent makeup? This varies from person to person, but in all cases we'll want to allow the skin to heal fully and evaluate how much pigment has naturally cleared before planning your next PMU appointment. - - - PICOSure Skin Rejuvenation FAQs What does PICOSure skin rejuvenation treat? PICOSure Pro can improve: | Fine lines | Uneven skin texture | Acne scars | Enlarged pores | Sun damage | Overall skin quality It's one of my favorite treatments because it focuses on improving the health of the skin, rather than just masking skin concerns. Does PICOSure make you peel? Most clients experience very little peeling, if any at all. Instead, what you may notice is a bit of mild dryness and a gradual improvement in texture as your collagen production increases. When will I see results? Some clients notice brighter skin within days. Collagen remodeling, however, continues over several weeks and months - meaning that your results will continue developing even after treatment. Is PICOSure better than microneedling? Honestly, they're different tools with different strengths. Microneedling and especially Procell Microchanneling are excellent collagen-stimulating treatments, while PICOSure Pro offers additional benefits for pigment, texture, and certain skin concerns. In many cases, they complement each other beautifully rather than compete. Think of them as a Dynamic Duo rather than a Dueling Duo. - - - Lifestyle & Aftercare FAQs Can I wear makeup after PICOSure? Depending on the treatment, we may recommend waiting about 24 hours before applying makeup to allow the skin to begin healing. That being said, we'll always provide personalized instructions based on your procedure. Can I use retinol afterward? Not immediately, no. It's best to temporarily pause retinoids, exfoliating acids, and other potentially irritating products until your skin has recovered. Can I go in the sun after treatment? Sun protection is one of the most important parts of aftercare. Daily SPF and limiting direct sun exposure help protect your skin and optimize your results (aka, what I preach everyone do all the time!) Can I get Botox or filler after PICOSure? Usually, yes... but timing matters. We'll help you determine the safest treatment schedule based on your goals and the areas being treated. What skincare should I use after PICOSure? K.I.S.S (Keep It Simple, Superstar 😉) Focus on: | Gentle cleanser | Hydrating moisturizer | Daily broad-spectrum SPF | Products recommended by your provider Your skin doesn't need a dozen active ingredients while it's healing. Less is more! - - - Every client is different, and every treatment plan is different. If you're considering PICOSure Pro laser tattoo removal, Brow Tone, or skin rejuvenation in Dallas, Fort Worth, or the DFW area, we'd love to meet you! Schedule a consultation, and we'll answer your questions, evaluate your goals, and create a personalized treatment plan that's tailored specifically to you 🍒 xo, Nicole
- Saline Removal vs. Laser PMU Removal: Which Is Better for Removing Permanent Makeup?
So you've started researching permanent makeup removal, you're knee-deep in miscellaneous search results, and you've probably realized there is far, FAR from just one option to choose from. Some artists recommend saline removal, others recommend laser removal - and you're stuck somewhere in the middle trying to decipher which treatment makes the most sense for your brows or lips. You're definitely not alone. As a permanent makeup artist, I completely understand why this topic can feel confusing. Every method has its place, but thanks to advances in laser technology, the conversation has changed quite a bit over the past few years. At The Brow Project, we specialize in PICOSure Pro laser removal for unwanted permanent makeup, microblading, and cosmetic tattoo pigment throughout Dallas, Fort Worth, and the DFW area. Ready to stop the endless online search and figure out which method is right for your PMU? I've got you - let's compare the two methods side by side. - - - Establishing the Difference Although both treatments are designed to lighten or remove permanent makeup, they work in completely different ways. Saline Removal Saline removal uses a tattoo machine or manual method to implant a saline-based solution into the skin. The solution encourages pigment to migrate toward the skin's surface, where some of it is gradually expelled during the healing process. This method is a great option for any yellow brows post laser. Because the skin is being reopened, saline removal creates a controlled wound that heals over the following weeks. PICOSure Pro Laser Removal Laser removal doesn't pull pigment to the surface. Instead, PICOSure Pro uses ultra-short picosecond pulses of laser energy to break pigment into microscopic particles that your body's immune system naturally clears over time. No chemicals or extraction; rather just your body's own healing process doing what it was designed to do. - - - Now, Let's Compare Them: // Downtime Saline Removal Because saline removal intentionally opens the skin, healing often includes: Scabbing Flaking Tenderness Longer visible healing Depending on the treatment area, recovery may last several days or longer. PICOSure Pro Laser removal is non-ablative, meaning it does not rely on creating an open wound. Most clients experience: Mild redness Temporary swelling Light sensitivity Minimal interruption to daily life For many people, this is one of the biggest advantages of laser removal. Winner: PICOSure Pro // Comfort During Treatment Let's be honest; neither treatment is completely painless. But the levels of pain DO differ quite notably. Saline removal feels similar to receiving another tattoo because the skin is repeatedly worked with a tattoo machine. There is a time and place for this method. PICOSure Pro is often described as quick snaps against the skin. Treatments are relatively fast, and each pulse lasts only a trillionth of a second. In fact, most clients are pleasantly surprised by how manageable these laser sessions are. Winner: PICOSure Pro // How the Pigment Is Removed Science enthusiasts, listen up - because this is where the mechanics of each treatment get super fascinating! Saline removal physically encourages pigment to migrate upward through the skin. Laser removal fragments pigment into tiny particles so your body's immune system can gradually eliminate them through the lymphatic system. Rather than forcing pigment out through healing skin, laser works with your body's natural clearing process - it's one of the reasons modern picosecond technology has become so popular! Winner: PICOSure Pro // Risk to the Skin Whenever the skin is intentionally reopened, there is naturally more healing involved. Saline removal can be an appropriate option in certain situations, but because it creates a controlled wound, there is generally more visible recovery compared to non-ablative laser treatments. PICOSure Pro is designed to target pigment while minimizing unnecessary damage to surrounding tissue; one of the reasons it has become such a valuable tool in aesthetic medicine. Winner: PICOSure Pro // Results Both saline and laser removal often require multiple sessions. However, advances in picosecond laser technology have made laser treatments increasingly effective for removing or lightening unwanted permanent makeup. At our Dallas studio, we frequently use PICOSure Pro for: Old microblading Powder brows Ombré brows Gray brows Blue brows Brows that have become too saturated Brow preparation before new permanent makeup Red/Orange brows Many clients aren't even looking for complete removal; they simply want a softer, cleaner canvas before refreshing their brows. That's exactly what Brow Tone was designed to accomplish. Winner: PICOSure Pro - - - Is Saline Removal Ever the Right Choice? If you don't have access to PICO, saline removal could still be a good option in specific situations; particularly when treating very fresh permanent makeup or when laser treatment isn't appropriate for a particular client. The right treatment will always depend on: Your skin Your pigment Your goals Your medical history Your timeline That's why consultations are so important; there is no "one-size-fits-all" answer. Why We Chose PICOSure Pro When we decided to expand into permanent makeup removal, we wanted to invest in technology that reflected where the industry is headed, not where it has been. That made the choice to bring on the PICOSure Pro Laser crystal clear. PICOSure Pro allows us to: Lighten overly saturated brows Remove unwanted pigment Preserve the natural brow hair Minimize downtime Create a cleaner foundation for future PMU It's also incredibly versatile. The same platform we use for Brow Tone can also perform: Laser tattoo removal Skin rejuvenation Pigment correction Collagen stimulation For us, it was far from being just an investment in a laser. It was an investment in giving our clients more options - and PICO was the clear (frankly, only) option in our eyes. The Bottom Line The permanent makeup industry has changed dramatically over the past decade. Years ago, many artists felt the only solution for outdated brows was to tattoo over them again. Today, we have more sophisticated options. Instead of layering correction pigment over old work, we can remove or lighten unwanted pigment and start with a cleaner foundation. It's a game-changing playbook strategy that's all but rendered old techniques obsolete. Whether you're looking to completely remove old permanent makeup or simply soften your brows before a refresh, modern laser technology has made those goals more achievable than ever. Ready to Remove or Lighten Your Permanent Makeup? If you're considering laser PMU removal in Dallas, Fort Worth, or the DFW area, we'd love to help! At The Brow Project, every single Brow Tone appointment begins with a personalized consultation where we'll evaluate your existing permanent makeup, discuss your goals, and determine whether PICOSure Pro laser treatment is the right fit for you. xo, Nicole
- The Do's & Don'ts After PICOSure Pro Treatment: A Complete Aftercare Guide
You've booked the treatment. You've zapped the tattoo, or obliterated the old brow pigment, or rejuvenated the skin... and now you're probably thinking, "Okay... now what?" Whether you came in for laser tattoo removal, Brow Tone Microblading Removal, or PICOSure Pro skin rejuvenation, the actions (or inactions) you take after your appointment play a MASSIVE role in how your skin heals and, ultimately, your final results. The good news? Recovery is generally much easier than most people expect. The even better news? Following a few simple PICOSure aftercare guidelines can help you heal comfortably while still getting the most out of your treatment. Read on for a comprehensive guide outlining everything I tell my own clients after receiving their PICOSure Pro laser treatment. First: What Happens After PICOSure Pro? So to give you some background to the way the treatment works, PICOSure Pro delivers ultra-short picosecond pulses that target pigment or stimulate collagen (depending on the treatment being performed.) Unlike older laser technologies that rely heavily on heat, PICOSure Pro is designed to treat the skin with remarkable precision while minimizing unnecessary damage to surrounding tissue. Because of that, most clients experience very little downtime. That being said, your body is still working hard behind the scenes. Think of it this way: Your treatment is a showing of Hamilton; PICO is the star of the production, but your body is the stagehand making the show run as seamlessly as possible. Whether it's clearing fragmented tattoo pigment or producing new collagen, healing continues long after your appointment ends. Supporting that process is one of, if not the number one, best things you can do. - - - Brow Tone Aftercare DO: Keep the Area Clean For the first couple of days, gently cleanse around the brows using a mild cleanser and lukewarm water. No scrubbing. No picking. Let your skin do what it was designed to do. Wear SPF Every Day Freshly treated skin is more susceptible to sun exposure. Daily sunscreen helps protect your results and supports healthy healing. Just apply each day as you normally would (...because we're all wearing our SPF daily, right? RIGHT?) Be Patient One of the biggest misconceptions about Brow Tone is that the pigment disappears immediately. In most cases, It doesn't. Your immune system gradually clears the fragmented pigment over the coming weeks - and you know what they say: "a watched pot never boils" so be patient and the pigment will be gone before you know it! DON'T: Don't Pick Flaking Skin If you notice dryness or light flaking, leave it alone. Seriously. Resist the urge. Why? Picking can interrupt healing and increase irritation. Don't Schedule New PMU Too Soon Many clients ask me post-treatment: "When can I redo my brows?" Honestly every case is different. We want the skin to fully heal and allow pigment clearance before planning your next PMU procedure. I promise you, good brows are worth waiting for. Don't Panic If the Brows Look Different Pigment can temporarily appear darker, lighter, or slightly frosted immediately after treatment. This is completely normal. Healing is very much so a "trust the process" situation - a process that's 100% worth it, IMO. - - - Tattoo Removal Aftercare DO: Stay Hydrated and Protected! Maybe this sounds totally unrelated, but I promise it isn't. Your lymphatic system helps remove fragmented tattoo pigment after laser treatment, so supporting your body with proper hydration really only aids to help that process. SPF must be applied to any treated areas while in the sun. We also recommend kinesology tape to cover the tattoos. Keep Moving Gentle exercise, walking, and supporting healthy circulation can encourage your body's natural clearance process. Nothing crazy (put down the Hyrox application) - just living a healthy lifestyle! Follow Your Treatment Schedule Laser tattoo removal works best when treatments are appropriately spaced. Your body needs time between sessions to continue clearing ink, so trust the timeline! DON'T: Don't Pop Blisters If blistering occurs, it's actually a normal healing response. Leave them intact whenever possible; they serve as your body's natural bandage. Don't Soak the Area Skip the hot tubs, swimming pools, and baths for several days while your skin recovers (Showers are perfectly fine!) Don't Expect Complete Removal Overnight Tattoo removal is a journey, with each session building upon the last. Progress is cumulative, so don't fight the timeline - just lean into it and I promise it'll be 1000% worth it! - - - Skin Rejuvenation Aftercare DO: Focus on Hydration After laser skin rejuvenation, your skin loves hydration. Use gentle, nourishing skincare that supports your skin barrier. Aim for a simple routine during this healing time! Wear Sunscreen Religiously If I could only give one piece of advice: Wear SPF. Every day. Frankly, this is the advice I'd give anyone regardless of whether you're healing from PICO or not. Your skin is an asset (one that you just put more $$$ towards, at that) - protect that investment!! This tip is one of the easiest ways to maximize your results. Let the Collagen Work One of my favorite things about PICOSure Pro skin rejuvenation is that improvements continue developing over the following weeks. Give the collagen time - let her cook!! DON'T: Don't Use Harsh Active Ingredients Immediately Temporarily avoid using products like retinoids, prescription retinols, exfoliating acids & strong scrubs until your skin has recovered. We'll always tell you exactly when it's safe to resume your routine. Don't Chase More Treatments Too Quickly Sometimes people feel excited after seeing initial improvement and immediately want another treatment. Consistency is important, but equally as important is spacing your treatments appropriately. Your skin needs that in-between time to respond & rebuild. - - - Universal Aftercare Tips for Every PICOSure Pro Treatment Whether you had Brow Tone, tattoo removal, or skin rejuvenation... these tips apply across the board: - Stay hydrated - - Avoid excessive sun exposure - - Wear SPF daily - - Avoid picking or scratching treated areas - - Follow your customized aftercare instructions - - Reach out if something doesn't seem right; we're always here if you have questions - The Bottom Line One of the reasons I love working with PICOSure Pro is because clients are often surprised by how manageable recovery actually is. No, you don't have to disappear & go ghost mode for weeks. No, you don't have to completely put your life on hold. You simply need to give your body the support it needs to do what it does best: heal. Whether you're lightening old PMU with Brow Tone, removing a tattoo that no longer feels like you, or investing in healthier, brighter skin, aftercare is NOT an afterthought. Treat your skin kindly, and I pinky-promise that future you will be SO glad you did. Ready to Start Your PICOSure Pro Journey? At The Brow Project, we offer customized PICOSure Pro laser tattoo removal, Brow Tone Microblading Removal, and skin rejuvenation treatments for clients throughout Dallas, Fort Worth, and the DFW area. If you've been considering laser treatment but still have questions, we'd love to help. - One Decade Later: A 10-Year Reflective of The Brow Project
Ten years. Ten f*cking years. An entire decade of The Brow Project is upon us - how has it already been 10 whole years?! 2016 birthed the beginning of something I could never imagine scaling to what it has; helping so many individuals. Of course; that started with creating their brows, their lips - to now still doing that AND helping them remove tattoos & old PMU they've longed to ditch. At the core of this, though, has and will always remain the desire of helping instill confidence. Whether that's finding newfound confidence with a fresh lip blush, or helping nurture & restore it via tattoo removal, it has ALWAYS been about helping people become their most unapologetically confident versions of themselves. If I have even done that for one person in these past 10 years, I would be happy - luckily, I've done it for a fewwww more than that. The Brow Project really started with 3 things: a dream, PMU skills (proof is in the pudding, y'all) - and sheer, borderline-frightening determination. TBP's 2016 Rose-Gold Era No one really tells you how truly terrifying it is to open your own storefront. Well, actually that's not true - most business owners would and have definitely said that. So maybe I'm reiterating a well-trodded-upon point, but nonetheless: it's f*cking SCARY. It's something that I realized requires a lot of vulnerability, a lot of humility, and a heavy dose of believing in yourself. That self-confidence cannot waver; not even for a second. Circa-early 2020's me No one tells you either how much you have to be okay with learning as you go. Well, that's also not true - there's quite literally multiple sayings about being a student of life; but again, I digress. During my initial growth period, the phrase “You don’t know what you don’t know." was basically my lived experience monthly, weekly - hell, really daily. You get to learn so many fun things about hiring, payroll, learning how to scale, bills (fun, right?!) If you're a 90s baby that also experienced the late 2010's in their 20's, I'm sure you remember when the concept of a #GirlBoss was basically shoved down every woman's throat. Do it all, crush it, rise to the top & look hot doing it! It was basically revered to wear every hat and with grace, poise & ease. So I did. I wore every hat, managed every "department" and found myself essentially just chasing society’s definition of “success.” And what happens when you start living for societal standards instead of your own? You, dear reader, lose touch with the person you are. I went from building & growing TBP to quite literally becoming TBP. Was this also out of necessity? Sure - but damn, did it come at a steep cost. I've learned how to delegate, how to take a step back when I need to, how to avoid overwhelm, and ultimately how to make this into a sustainable entity that still brings me joy every single day. And when you set off on your own to build your dream business, isn't that what it's really about? Happiness? We made it through the late-2010's "Girl Boss" era, we made it through 2020 (we were all there, we don't need to dwell on that too long) - and here we are, 10 whole years later (sorry for repeating that number so many times, but double digits is still something my brain can't quite comprehend!) I've definitely grown a lot as a person since 2016. You might recall from my 9 year reflective last year, but in 2020 I embarked on my mental health journey through Onsite Workshops in Tennessee. I really mean it when I say this decision changed the trajectory of my life. I became equipped with the tools on how to protect my mental health, both as a business owner AND as a human. I didn't realize how badly I needed to rediscover myself as a person separate from my business, separate from TBP. It truly forced me to acknowledge my mental & physical needs and learn how to be the best version of myself, in order to show up for both others and for myself. I continued my journey of self-discovery & in 2024 received my ADHD diagnosis + medication - something I had no idea would be SO impactful. If you take one thing away from this entire reflective, please let it be to not ignore your mental health. Business owner or not; aspiring entrepreneur or not. This is so important for EVERYONE. In recent years, I've started to branch out professionally as well! Last summer I was lucky enough to be invited to Wulop PMU Conference in Vietnam to spearhead Team USA! I really fell in love with MC'ing & speaking during this event, and have loved getting to do it more during events like PMU World Live this past September in Miami and at Biotek Masterclass Training sessions in both Dallas & NYC. I'd be lying if I said it was pushing me out of my comfort zone completely - because if you know me, you know I love cracking jokes and yapping it up with both people I know AND total strangers... so this is definitely in my wheelhouse. It has, however, pushed me professionally and helped me grow; continuous growth even years into your business is so important (always a student of life, remember?) Speaking of, I've continued to attend trainings for both PMU artistry & laser! Techniques always evolve and it's so important to avoid stagnating as a professional in this space. From Korean Lip Blush trainings in San Fran to pigmentology classes led by Biotek, I wish to always be at the top of my game so I can continue to deliver the best results for my clients. Now that I've mentioned lasers, what a great time to talk about how much the business itself has changed in a decade! That's right folks, we aren't just brows & lips anymore. 2025 marked the arrival of the PICOSure Pro Laser: my baby, my pride & joy - and this has genuinely transformed my studio. You want that old tattoo of your ex's name or that cringy quote off your body? You've got it with PICO tattoo removal. You want your botched microblading gone? Consider it done. Want to neutralize your lips? Kiss that pigmentation goodbye. You want to treat melasma on your skin? PICO Skin Rejuvenation has you covered. PICO could have the biggest FIFA ad slot and I'd still say it's underrated. If you haven't kept up with TBP in a sec (don't worry, nobody's perfect 😜) and any of those scenarios apply to you, you NEED to check out PICO. Seriously - this laser deserves every ounce of hype I and others give it & MORE. To wrap this very long reflective up (because at this point it'll take 10 years to read all of this) - None of the past decade would have been possible without you: my clients + community; my biggest sources of trust & inspiration. In the same way I’ve shown up for you personally or professionally, you’ve shown up for me. Whether you’ve been a day-one 2016 OG, or you've just walked through my doors for the inaugural time, you’ve made more of an impact than you’ll probably ever know. Cheers to a DECADE - 10 whole freakin' years of growth, genuine connections, and to always being the most unapologetic, authentically-you version of yourself. Oh - and to some kicka** brows & kissable AF lips. - - - xo, Nicole
- What Is the PICOSure Pro Platinum Focus Lens? (And Why Everyone Is Talking About It)
Diamonds might be a girl's best friend, but Platinum is her secret weapon (the Platinum focus lens, that is.) If you've spent any time researching laser skin rejuvenation lately, you've probably come across the term PICOSure Pro Platinum Focus Lens. Aaand if you're anything like most of my clients, your next thought was probably: "Okay... but what actually is it?" Which is truly a fair question. The aesthetics industry looooves making things sound more complicated than they need to be, if we're being honest. Between acronyms, wavelengths, handpieces, and laser jargon, it can be hard to tell what's marketing and what's genuinely innovative. So I want to break it down for you. When I tell you that after a year of working with the PICOSure Pro laser here in Dallas, I've become convinced that the Platinum Focus Lens is one of the most exciting developments in non-invasive skin rejuvenation, and it's a huge reason why picosecond laser treatments continue to gain popularity. First Things First: What Is the PICOSure Pro Platinum Focus Lens? The Platinum Focus Lens is a specialized attachment used with the PICOSure Pro laser. Unlike traditional laser treatments that rely heavily on heat to create skin changes, the Platinum Focus Lens redistributes laser energy into tiny concentrated treatment zones that stimulate the skin's natural healing and regeneration process. The result? Collagen stimulation. Skin revitalization. Texture improvement. All with remarkably little to no downtime. Yup - basically a lunchtime laser that works overtime (aka, the busy woman's DREAM!) How Does the Platinum Focus Lens Work? Without getting tooo science-y, here's the simplified version: Traditional resurfacing lasers often create controlled thermal injury by heating the skin. However, the Platinum Focus Lens takes a different approach. It delivers picosecond energy in a fractionated pattern that creates microscopic treatment zones called Laser-Induced Optical Breakdowns (LIOBs) within the skin. These tiny treatment zones trigger a healing response that stimulates collagen and elastin production without relying on significant heat. In other words, instead of aggressively removing layers of skin, we're encouraging the skin to rebuild itself. That's a big reason why recovery tends to be much easier than with older resurfacing technologies. What Does the Platinum Focus Lens Treat? The Platinum Focus Lens is commonly used for: Acne Scars This is one of the most searched uses for PICOSure Pro. The collagen stimulation triggered by treatment can help soften the appearance of acne scarring over time. Fine Lines and Wrinkles Rather than freezing movement or adding volume, this treatment focuses on improving skin quality itself. Many clients notice smoother skin and softened fine lines after a series of treatments. Enlarged Pores If you've ever looked in the mirror and thought your pores suddenly became more noticeable overnight, you're not imagining it. As collagen decreases with age, pores often become more visible. Stimulating collagen can help improve the appearance of pore size and overall texture. Skin Texture This is honestly one of my favorite benefits - and it's difficult to truly explain until you see it in person, but your skin just looks smoother, brighter, and healthier overall. What Makes the Platinum Focus Lens Different from Other Lasers? Easily the biggest question people ask is this, and the answer comes down to two words: Less downtime. Many traditional resurfacing lasers achieve results through significant thermal injury. That can mean: Extended redness Peeling Social downtime More recovery time The Platinum Focus Lens was designed to stimulate collagen while minimizing thermal damage to surrounding tissue. Because the 755nm wavelength and picosecond delivery rely more on photomechanical effects than heat, treatments can often be performed with significantly less downtime. The modern clients wants results... buuut they also want to go to dinner that night (real!) This reality does exist, all thanks to the Platinum Focus Lens. So Is the Platinum Focus Lens the Same as Tattoo Removal? No, and this is where people can start to get confused. The PICOSure Pro laser can perform multiple functions depending on which handpiece and lens are being used. For tattoo removal and pigment correction, we use different settings and treatment approaches. For skin rejuvenation, the Platinum Focus Lens is specifically designed to target skin quality concerns like: Fine lines Acne scars Enlarged pores Texture irregularities It's the same laser, just with a different purpose & a different outcome. Why Is PICOSure Pro Becoming So Popular? I mean... did you read everything up until this point? Jokes aside, it's because beauty trends are changing. For years, aesthetics focused on adding. More filler. More volume. More intervention. More, more MORE! Today, people are increasingly interested in: Skin longevity Collagen stimulation Prevention Natural-looking results The goal isn't to look different, or look like your favorite slightly-overfilled celebrity. The goal is to look like yourself - just a version of yourself with better skin. Treatments like PICOSure Pro fit perfectly into that shift because they support the skin's natural regenerative processes rather than relying solely on temporary fixes. Is the Platinum Focus Lens Worth It? In my opinion? If you're looking for a treatment that addresses skin quality, texture, pores, acne scars, and early signs of aging without the downtime associated with more aggressive lasers, absolutely. Full send. F*ck yes. It's truly one of the reasons I invested in the PICOSure Pro platform in the first place, and after seeing hundreds of treatments and countless before-and-afters over the last year, I continue to feel so reaffirmed in that choice. It to this day still impresses me just how much improvement we're able to achieve while still allowing clients to get back to their lives. Smarter with subtlety: That's the future of aesthetics. Looking for PICOSure Pro Treatments in Dallas or the DFW Area? At The Brow Project, we offer customized PICOSure Pro treatments for clients throughout Dallas, Fort Worth, and the greater DFW area. - How to Remove Microblading: Your Guide to Safe, Effective Brow Tattoo Removal in Dallas
Microblading was and continues to be one of the biggest beauty trends of the last decade. For many people, it delivered exactly what they wanted: fuller-looking brows, less time spent getting ready in the morning, and a more defined shape. But techniques evolve, beauty trends shift (now toward softer, more natural-looking brows), and oftentimes work is done improperly or inadequately. This puts many people in a position where they’re asking the same question: "How do you remove microblading?" Maybe your brows have faded into an unwanted color, were done too dark, no longer suit your face, or simply just don't reflect your current style. Good news: Modern laser technology CAN safely and effectively remove unwanted brow pigment. At The Brow Project, we use the industry standard-setting PICOSure Pro laser to perform brow pigment correction and removal for clients throughout Dallas, Fort Worth, and the DFW area. Let's break down everything you need to know, and answer the questions I know are on your mind. The Basics: What Is Microblading? Microblading is a form of semi-permanent cosmetic tattooing that deposits pigment into the skin using a handheld blade. While microblading was marketed for years as "semi-permanent," the reality is that many clients still have visible pigment years later. Depending on factors such as: Skin type Pigment type Depth of implantation Sun exposure Previous touch-ups Microblading can linger far longer than expected. This is often when people begin looking into brow tattoo removal options. Why Do People Remove Microblading? There really isn't one universal reason. Some of the most common reasons clients seek microblading removal include: 🍒 The Color Has Changed One of the most common complaints is that brows have healed into an unwanted tone. Over time, some pigments can fade into: Gray Blue-gray Ashy tones Red or salmon tones Instead of continuing to layer correction pigment over old work, many clients choose to remove or lighten the existing pigment first. 🍒 The Brows Are Too Dark Beauty trends change, and many people who loved & rocked a bold brow several years ago now prefer something softer and more natural. 🍒 The Shape No Longer Fits Faces change, we age (Father Time & the aging process spare no one, unfortunately.) A brow shape that felt perfect five years ago may not feel as flattering today. 🍒 The Work Was Done Poorly Unfortunately, not all permanent makeup artists have the same level of training or experience. When brows are uneven, oversaturated, or improperly placed, removal can provide a fresh start. What Are the Different Ways to Remove Microblading? There are several removal methods available, but trust me - they are NOT all created equal. ⚡️ Saline Removal Saline removal uses a tattooing device and a saline solution to draw pigment toward the surface of the skin. While it can be effective in some situations, it often requires multiple sessions and can be much more invasive than clients initially expect. ⚡️ Glycolic Acid Removal Some technicians use glycolic acid-based removal systems to lift pigment. Results can vary significantly depending on pigment depth and skin type. ⚡️ Laser Microblading Removal Laser removal has quickly become the gold standard for many unwanted brow tattoos because it can target pigment directly without repeatedly breaking the skin's surface. Furthermore, modern picosecond laser technology has absolutely changed the standard, reinventing what is possible in the world of PMU correction. Why We Use PICOSure Pro for Microblading Removal Trust & believe: Not all lasers are the same. At The Brow Project, we utilize the PICOSure Pro laser, one of the most advanced picosecond laser systems available today. She truly is a powerhouse. Unlike older nanosecond lasers, PICOSure Pro delivers ultra-short bursts of energy that shatter pigment into tiny particles that can be naturally cleared by the body. The benefits include: Precision | The laser targets pigment while minimizing impact to surrounding tissue. Effective Pigment Clearance | Smaller pigment particles are easier for the body to eliminate. Minimal Downtime | Most clients experience little interruption to daily activities. Hair Preservation One of the most common PICO questions we hear is: "Will laser removal remove my eyebrow hair?" In near-all cases, no. PICOSure Pro allows us to treat unwanted pigment while preserving the integrity of the brow hairs themselves. This is one of the reasons Brow Tone has become such a popular treatment for clients wanting to soften old PMU. What Is Brow Tone? Brow Tone is our specialized brow pigment lightening and correction service powered by PICOSure Pro. Rather than fully removing every trace of pigment, Brow Tone can be used to: Lighten overly dark brows Remove unwanted color shifts Create a cleaner foundation for future PMU Refresh outdated brow work Many clients don't actually need complete removal - sometimes they just need a reset. Think of it like hitting the "Factory Reset” button on your brows! How Many Sessions Does It Take to Remove Microblading? This is the most common question, and the honest answer is that it depends. Factors that affect treatment include: Pigment color Pigment composition Saturation level Number of previous touch-ups Skin type Desired outcome Some clients are seeking complete removal, while others simply want enough lightening to proceed with new PMU. A consultation allows us to assess your brows and develop a customized treatment plan! What Does Microblading Removal Look Like After Treatment? Immediately after treatment, clients may notice: Mild redness Slight swelling Temporary whitening of the treated area These effects generally resolve quickly. Because PICOSure Pro is a non-ablative laser treatment, downtime is typically minimal compared to more aggressive removal methods. Final Verdict: Is Laser Microblading Removal Worth It? In my opinion? Absolutely. In fact, it’s something I myself have done on my own brows that needed a reset (you can read alllll about that here) and have since done on so, so many others. One of the biggest shifts happening in aesthetics right now is the move toward refinement rather than adding more. Instead of layering new pigment over old pigment, we're able to selectively remove that old pigment that no longer serves us to create space for better results. As both a PMU artist and laser specialist, I've seen firsthand how transformative this can be. Clients leave feeling lighter, more confident, and excited about their options again. Looking for Microblading Removal in Dallas, Fort Worth, or the DFW Area? SO, If you're considering: Microblading removal Brow tattoo removal PMU correction Brow pigment lightening Brow Tone treatments Myself & my team would be honored to help. Schedule your consultation at The Brow Project and we'll assess your current brows, discuss your goals, and determine whether PICOSure Pro laser treatment is the right fit. Sometimes, the best brow transformation starts with a clean slate. Xo, Nicole
- My Tattoo Removal Journey: Why I Started Letting Go of the Tattoos I Once Loved
There was a time when I loved each and every one of my tattoos dearly. The dozens of them decorating my body, each just as special to me as the other. Some of them meant a lot, and some of them meant absolutely nada. I loved them all the same. Each one captured a version of me that felt permanent at the time... and for years I loved them, I really did. But over the past year or so, I’ve been slowly, intentionally removing near-all of those tattoos using the PICOSure Pro laser - not because I inherently regret them, and not because they were “mistakes,” but simply because they no longer represent who I am today. This is why I decided to remove, how I'm removing them - and whether or not I think you should, too. Tattoos Can Be Meaningful… and Still Outgrown We don’t talk enough about how normal it is to evolve. Like... we aren't monoliths! Think about the 24 year old version of you. Fresh out of college, near-fully developed frontal lobe, probably - like me and every other mid-twenties individual - making decisions that were probably stupid but felt smart at the time. Do you align 1:1 with that individual? Chances are, you're a completely different person now. What felt aligned at 25 might not resonate at 35. What once felt expressive can eventually feel heavy & outdated. My tattoos were reflections of past chapters; of phases marked by growth, survival, creativity, rebellion & healing. This is not to sh*t on them - they served their purpose beautifully. But as I grew older, evolved, matured & gradually found more clarity in who I am now... some of them started to feel loud in a way that no longer matched my present-day state of being. And guess what? That’s OKAY. In fact, it's NORMAL. Outgrowing something doesn’t mean it was wrong. It just means you’ve changed. Why I Chose Laser Tattoo Removal (and Why It Felt Healing) Choosing to remove tattoos felt.. surprisingly empowering. Laser tattoo removal allows you to honor your past, and choose what you carry forward with intention. Using the PICOSure Pro Laser that I brought into The Brow Project last year, I’ve been able to gradually lighten and remove tattoos with precision, minimal downtime, and respect for the skin underneath. The process is slow by design, and I’ve actually come to appreciate that. Nothing meaningful happens overnight - and the best results take sweet, sweet time & patience. The Journey (Because it IS a Journey.) Speaking of time - this process has taken over a year, to be fully transparent with you. Why? You need recovery periods in between sessions to let the skin heal Depending on the type of ink used and the depth at which it was placed, it can take more or less sessions to reach full removal On a personal level - I'm a busy gal & often took more time than needed between sessions. Life, yanno? That being said; the removal has been significant & without too much pain - which if you know anything about the laser tattoo removal process, is MAJOR. This process is notorious for being somewhat of a f*cking headache to go through (20+ excruciatingly painful sessions - no thanks) but with PICO, you can expect less pain, less downtime and less necessary sessions. The journey has flown by! Why PICOSure Pro Made Alllll the Difference As someone who works with lasers professionally, I’m deeply aware of how important technology is when it comes to skin safety and results. PICOSure Pro uses ultra-short picosecond pulses to break down ink particles more efficiently than traditional lasers, allowing your body to naturally clear the pigment over time. For me, that meant: Faster clearance Fewer sessions Less trauma to the surrounding skin Better outcomes for stubborn or dark inks Growth Isn’t Linear, and Neither Is Identity We live in a culture that tells us to “commit” and “stick with it,” - but I say screw that. You’re allowed to change your mind. You’re allowed to want something different. You’re allowed to update your outer expression as your inner world evolves. You're allowed to evolve because you're a human being !!! Having access to tattoo removal - especially advanced laser technology - creates freedom. Freedom to soften, refine, and recalibrate without judgment and with your own personal interest & growth at the forefront. Do what you want - and if that's changing your mind about old tattoos, so be it. I'm right here with the PICO laser ready to zap that bad boy right off. For Anyone Considering Tattoo Removal If you’re thinking about removing or lightening a tattoo, ask yourself this: "Do I regret getting this?" "Is it taking up space in my mind thinking about how much I want it gone?" "Is this tattoo impeding on my ability to live life?" "Does this ink represent who I am anymore?" If the answer yes to any of these, that’s enough. Tattoo removal can be a deeply personal, empowering process - one that beautifully honors who you were, while making deserved space for the lovely person you’re becoming. It can also be a way to stop thinking about how much you want the tattoo gone, and a way to gift yourself peace of mind. Final Thoughts For me this removal journey has been, above all, about alignment. Ditching what no longer serves or aligns with me, in favor of my outward appearance matching the inner person I've evolved into. I’m truly grateful to offer tattoo removal as a service not just because, well, it flat-out works - but because of what it allows people to do: grow, heal, and redefine themselves on their own terms. Thinking About Your Own Tattoo Removal Journey? At The Brow Project, we offer PICOSure Pro laser tattoo removal for clients looking for safe, effective tattoo removal in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, with personalized treatment plans and complimentary consultations to assess tattoo size, ink type, and the number of sessions needed using PICOSure Pro laser tattoo removal. No pressure. No judgment. Just honest guidance, a realistic timeline, and straight-up WOW-factor results. You’re allowed to change.Your skin can reflect that, too. xx, Nicole
- ~May~ This Recap Find You Well
May, May May… May I take a sec to recap what’s been a jam-packed month for me? From conferences in New York to 36th birthday celebrations in Miami, I’ve been here there & everywhere this past month! Without further ado - let’s dive right on into the month’s recap, shall we? - - - Biokek NYC Masterclass "Alexa, play "New York" by Frank Sinatra!" I have to start with my trip to New York City. I traveled there in the early part of May to attend the Biotek training workshop! I will never shut up about the quality & superiority of Biotek & their pigments - so much so that head of Biotek Francesca asked me to yap about them some more IRL! It was an honor to serve as a mentor and lead at this educational session. One of the only things I love more than being a PMU artist myself, is seeing newcomers to the PMU space that are hungry to learn more about the industry and its ever-evolving techniques. If you know me, you know we don’t do stagnant over here! Biotek NYC Masterclass There is so much to be taken away from their educational sessions so if you’re a PMU or aspiring PMU artist that wants to elevate their craft, take the opportunity to attend a Biotek Masterclass if you have the chance! - - - One of the main reasons I love May is that it’s both my birthday month and my partner Ross and I’s anniversary 🥹 We celebrated 11 years together, making the most of our time in NYC by celebrating right there in the Big Apple. New York was the perfect balance of work & time away to celebrate. And as of writing this I can officially say I’m 36 years young! Of course I celebrated the day-of (May 25th if anyone was wondering or, you know, wants to add it to the calendar for next year 🤭 ) but the festivities really commenced that weekend in Miami! I got to ring in 36 with, who else, my bestie Marie of Beauty Glam Studio in Boca Raton. We laughed, we partied (It’s Miami, so DUH), we danced… It was the girl’s weekend I SO needed, and was truly the best way to cap off both an incredible birthday weekend AND a fantastic month. - - - You MAY be waiting for my faves of the month - so with no further ado, these are the Non-negotiable May products I have tried (& loved!) this past month: Favorite Products: Saie Supersuede Baked Powder Blush in the shade Bella | The most gorgeous pale pink shade in a truly delectable formula! Gorgeous to diffuse on the cheeks, and this light shade is so stunning. Neova Sunscreen | I’m putting my favorite here - but truly any sunscreen is better than no sunscreen. June is here, the UV index is higher, and your sun exposure naturally will be much higher. If you know me, you know I basically don’t shut up about wearing your SPF on a daily, year-round basis… however in the summer months it’s PA 👏 RA 👏 MOUNT 👏 . Haven’t found one you like? Keep looking! We are living in the golden age of skincare, and thus sunscreen options are vast, expansive & curated to a myriad of skin concerns & needs. I can basically promise you there’s a SPF out there for you - and if you need guidance, PLEASE reach out to me. I would be more than happy to help you protect your skin this summer!! Favorite Misc. Item/Things John Summit | Sooooo was John my favorite artist last month? Yes. Am I adding him again because earlier this month he announced his arena tour that’s coming to Dallas? 1000%. - - - Protect your peace, protect your skin - and i’ll catch ya for the June Journal 💋 Xo, Nicole
- Hair Goals, RIP Laser Season + Routine: The April Diary
If I could describe April in Dallas in one word, I think it’d be: blegh. I can’t really say that rainy, overcast, stormy or cold truly singularly encapsulates it… just a menagerie of undesirable weather trends all converging into one 30-day period of time. Milquetoast Dallas backdrop aside, I had a great month! At a glance, April looked like new hair, stellar client results, prep for May events, and finally getting back into routine. But I’ve left you waiting long enough - let’s dive right on into the month’s recap, shall we? - - - I’ve been on a bit of a hair journey in 2026, and had my latest appointment a few weeks ago. I’ve had quite a few hair eras in my life; I won ‘t provide the evidence but scroll far back enough on my socials and see the visual proof for yourself. That being said, I think long, red hair, face-framing layers Nicole might be my favorite era to date! It’s giving mermaid goddess, femme fatale… it’s truly everything I’ve ever wanted and more. Massive, massive shoutout to @BushmanBeauty for being a true master of his craft and creating the hair of my wildest dreams. If you happen to be in Dallas or the surrounding area, go experience his expertise & talent for yourself & see him at Bigger Better Hair!! PICO, PICO, PICO! April is what I would say is the last major month of laser season, especially here in Texas where May is the unofficial start to summer (hell, it’s 85 degrees as I’m typing this!) That means PICO has been a booked and busy gal, haven’t having seen a day off basically all fall & winter. I’ve written blogs about this in the past, but the reason for there being a “season” for laser is because of how impactful sun exposure can be to freshly-treated skin. After laser treatments, you want to keep your skin out of the sun and the sun’s rays for a minimum 24-48 hours post-session. This is far easier to do in the winter months where it’s colder, more overcast, and the sun sets earlier in the day. Whether booking the PICOSure Pro Laser for skin rejuvenation, brow tone, lip neutralization or laser tattoo removal; I always encourage my clients to get as many sessions under their belt as they can in the winter aka “peak laser season” so that they can see as much progress as they can before the summer and we’re “out” of that season. From getting back into Pilates sessions (thank you Serv Studios) to getting a bit of content filming in, this month has been one of getting back into the swing of things. Routines, habits, and admin! Back in March we switched booking platforms over, and while that change has been incredible, it was also incredibly time-consuming and definitely threw me out of routine a bit. Now that I'm past the thick of that, I have more time to return to the routines I genuinely crave & love. I’ve also been preparing to attend Biotek’s training seminar/workshop in New York here in just a couple of weeks! If you know me you know I love Biotek & their pigments; I’ll stand ten toes down on the fact that they’re some of the best in the biz. I took so much away from their last educational session here in Dallas, and can’t wait to attend this session! - - - It wouldn’t be a monthly newsletter without mentioning my faves of the month, so these are the Non-negotiable April products I’m thankful to have tried & loved this past month: Favorite Products: Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré | This is an insert coming to you from my Social + Marketing Manager, who just returned from a trip to Paris & picked this up in the French Pharmacy. She tested this as a hydrating base for makeup - and had nothing but incredible things to say. She reports that it “never left her normal/dry skin dehydrated, and made her makeup look natural & flawless all day long, even post-20k steps around Paris.” Sounds convincing enough to me! House of Bo XuXu Eau de Parfum | Oh, how I love this scent. House of Bo has never once missed with a fragrance release and this is no different - dare I say it’s my favorite from them? Notes of earl grey tea, champagne, rose, chili pepper and macarons (yep, like the addictive pastry cookies)... blended to it-girl perfection. Maliqe Layali Eau de Parfum | Okay, one more perfume because I’m clearly in my fragrance era. I have multiple from this line, and while you really can’t go wrong, my personal favorite is this dreamy, delightful scent I can’t stop wearing. Favorite Misc. Item/Thing John Summit - CTRL ESCAPE | Yeah, his new album was obviously getting selected to be on this list. This will be playing in the studio until further notice! I also am quite literally following his very public beef with Rimowa Luggage like it’s a breaking news story. The feud I didn’t know I needed and surely wasn’t on my 2026 Bingo Card was John Summit v. Rimowa, but this is leaving me more entertained than I’ve been by anything on social in awhile. Please let me know if you’re also keeping up with this and patiently awaiting Rimowa’s response. You know what they say: April monologues bring May recap blogs (or something like that) - catch ya for May’s musings 💋 Xo, Nicole
- A Love-filled February + A Maddening March: Diary Entry #8
You know what’s really madness? The fact that it’s already the end of March. Saint Patrick’s Day has come and gone, and as luck would have it - you’re here, reading my Q1 debrief. The past month or so have been a whirlwind of client appointments, quick getaway trips, milestones and the bits of self-care I can manage to squeeze in between the chaos. Let’s dive right on into it, shall we? - - - If you’re into the aesthetics world, then you know that Q1 and the arrival of Q2 can only mean one thing.. okay well two things: tax season, and more importantly - the slow departure of peak laser season. There might be other cities you could get away with laser in the late spring + summer months - but we live in Texas, y’all. I probably sound like a broken record talking about this, but the enemy of laser treatments is sun exposure, which we happen to get a lottttt of during a Dallas summer. That’s why I always encourage my clients to really optimize the wintertime and colder months to get in for their laser treatments. .. Hence why my PICOSure Pro Laser has barely had a chance to cool off! From Laser Tattoo Removal and Skin Rejuvenation to Brow Tone and Lip Neutralization, my clients have been “laser-focused” (sorry) on their goals this year! And if you’ve been putting off this consult or next appointment, this is your sign. - - - Speaking of PICO, the first quarter of the year also marks the one year anniversary of the PICO Laser being brought into The Brow Project! This was a decision I made in late 2024 after having both seen the impressive research & results of the device AND experienced the transformative results myself on my skin, brows & tattoos. In February of 2025, I hosted a party to celebrate the launch, and the rest is history!! ...Okay well, that might be sparing too many details - but if you want to see the full backstory, learn more about PICO and see some of the amazing case studies we’ve had so far, I just published a blog reflecting on a full year with the device! You can read that here. - - - I’ve taken a few little trips these past few months, that be for work or just for a little bit of Dallas escapism. Just earlier this month I ventured over to the West Coast - and damn, is that ~Sunshine Tax~ not just absolutely gorgeous. There’s a few places I dream of splitting time between, and California is for sure one of them. I also got some much-needed girl time with my bestie Marie of Beauty Glam Studios down in Boca Raton, FL. We laughed, we lasered (duh!) and we loved - loved every bit of time we got to spend catching up and hanging out. - - - It wouldn’t be a monthly diary entry without mentioning my faves of the month, so these are the Non-negotiable Q1 products I’m thankful to have tried & loved this past month: FAVORITE PRODUCTS: Nuse Care Liptual Glossy Stain | It wouldn’t be a favorites list of mine without a K-Beauty product on it - and this has been my obsession of choice at the moment. Such a lovely product; one of my favorite lip stain formulations I’ve played around with and one I'm found myself constantly going back to! Soft Services x Dedcool Theraplush Overnight Repair Treatment | This has been one of my favorite finds recently. It’s a hand moisturizer infused with retinol (which I’m never going to say NO to) that’s not only refillable, but housed in a gorgeous vessel that quite literally looks like a sculpture for your nightstand. Plus, this collab is scented with Dedcool’s signature “Milk” fragrance AND comes with a travel spray of that perfume? Purchase secured, backups in the cart. Neo va Night Therapy | We’re keeping our skin barrier INTACT going into the new year. I've been loving this cream from Neova as it not only hydrates, but works overtime with the inclusions of both a Copper Peptide & their innovative DNA Repair! We loveee a multitasking product over here. FAVORITE MISC. THING: Devoted “Selfish Time” | I couldn’t narrow down just one thing, but all of the items in contention to be featured all have one thing in common: they’re acts of self-care. An hour, 45 minutes, etc. that are solely devoted to myself, my betterment and my goals. Reformer Pilates (Serv Studios has been my go-to as of recent!) Mat Pilates (loving Forma heated, nothing new there) Breathe Meditation for Sound Baths - all mindful activities in the name of self-betterment. SO critical to preserving & bettering both your mental and physical health - couldn’t recommend prioritizing “selfish time” in your week MORE! - - - Q1, OUT! I’ll catch ya in April 💋 xo, Nicole
- The Most Underrated Skincare Product isn't a Product - it's Consistency.
The truth about getting serious about your skincare is just as sobering as it is when you start getting serious about the gym: one session isn’t going to change your life. You won’t get a dump truck from one glute session, and you won’t have 1000% more collagen from one facial. And I know that it feels like it should. You book the facial, you spend an hour solely on your skin, you leave looking hydrated, smoothed, lifted, maybe even a little snatched… and then a week later you’re like: “Wait. Why are my problematic areas still being.. problematic?” Welcome to the same universal experience we all have after getting serious about skin maintenance. Fun, right? Let’s talk about it. Okay but WTF do #skincarequeens & #gymbros have to do with each other? And is skincare consistency that important? Showing up for your skin really isn’t that different from showing up for your body. The biggest parallel? You can’t expect results from a single session. Close your eyes and imagine this scenario for a sec: you walk into the gym, you do a solid 45 minutes on the StairMaster, and leave expecting visible washboard abs when you get home. If you locate this magical stairmaster let me know, because that would be insane. BUT for some reason, skincare gets treated like magic. One hour-long treatment and you’ve Benjamin Button’ed a few years. A single facial is a boost , not a transformation. It’s a “first day back at the gym” high - it’s not the one and done solution. — So let’s say you commit to the long-term plan and commit to a monthly facial routine. This is a perfect baseline - but could all be a wasted effort without adequate at-home care. You wouldn’t kick ass in a workout class just to go home and polish off an entire bag of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, would you? Or you wouldn’t hit the gym regularly, fueled on a diet of iced coffee & a lack of sleep, right? Not if you expected to see muscle definition. Skincare works the same. exact. way. Your routine between treatments: SPF, actives, hydration, and true day in, day out consistency - carries 80% of the load. The facials are the workout, and the skincare and at-home habits are the diet. It takes both to see results. — It’s also very important to remind you that even if you’re doing everything optimally and routinely to near-perfection, it still takes time. Ask anyone who lifts or does Pilates and they’ll tell you that the changes aren’t noticeable day to day. They compound slowly and gradually, until out of nowhere one day you’ll look in the mirror and say “When did those bicep muscles get there?” or someone will tell you “Wait, you look AMAZING!?” It really doesn’t differ much when it comes to skin. The results kinda sneak up on you out of nowhere. You’ll be consistent for a few months, and the compliment will just hit you on a random Tuesday at Sprouts. This is also why, similarly to the gym, it’s important to take progress pictures! Make sure to grab a few pictures of your skin pre-committing to this routine - and after that aforementioned compliment at the grocery store, you’ll have pictures to look back on and say “Damn, I really AM glowing!” — Let’s talk about the training - ie, skincare - itself. You have to have a varied split for your treatments, just as you’d have a varied workout split in the gym. Just like training, different sessions do different things: Glo2 = your pre-workout oxygen push Procell Microchanneling = the muscle-building growth factor equivalent PICOSure = the deep, restorative recovery session Home skincare = your daily steps + protein intake Combine them for the most well-rounded, holistically-targeted approach. — When people say to me, “I want brighter skin” or “I want to get rid of texture,” it’s essentially the equivalent of saying to your coach: “I want toned arms” or “I want stronger legs.” It’s great that we have tangible goals… but what’s the plan? If you have concrete skin goals you’d like to accomplish, they deserve the same intentionality you’d give to a fitness goal. That means being mindful of: Frequency (how often you’re coming in) Progression (stacking treatments strategically) Accountability (staying disciplined even when you want to sleep in your makeup and call it a night) Recovery (skincare routine, sleep, hydration) Skincare consistency is the unrivaled winner, every single time - and that really is the most important mindset shift you could have. When you look at the bigger picture; look past the facial for the plan that comes with it - that’s when you’ll actually see the facial pay off. It’s a crucial player in a larger, all-encompassing strategy - not the whole strategy itself. So book the treatment, of course - but much more importantly: Commit to the plan. Choose the package. Schedule out the treatments. Show up for your skin the same way you show up for anyone or anything you truly care about. If you want the results, you HAVE to view these treatments as a part of a plan you commit to - no ifs, ands or buts. Ready to start?
