tap tap … is this thing on? HI! It has been a minute and a half since I’ve updated the blog - but we’re SO back, and better than ever, dare I say. It’s been a really big goal of mine to get the blog back up & running - and you know what? This is the year. Get excited & expect to hear more from your local permanent hottie in 2025. So , what’s been going on in The Brow Project PMU-niverse? Honestly.. it’s been busy AF over here - so let’s do a recap, shall we? I lovingly refer to this year as my “Year of Growth and Evolution.” For starters, I continued to dive even deeper  into my continued education & training. The industry doesn’t stop evolving just because we stop seeking new information! I think one massive indicator of a great service provider is their commitment to keeping up with the industry and its inevitable evolution. I want to always be on the forefront of what’s happening in the permanent makeup & beauty industry, in order to ensure I’m always providing the best services for my clients. I didn’t just further my professional education - but on a personal level, too. This year, I received both my Lagree Fitness and Sound Healing Certifications as well! These are practices I have leaned into for years, as they’ve been so transformative not just physically, but mentally. These practices hold such a special place in my head & heart, and I’m so grateful to have been able to dive even further into them. I had the opportunity to attend some exciting industry events, including a Milan PMU conference as well as Nano Club this past December! Service-wise, I started offering Nano Brows - which have seen massive  popularity in recent months! I’m planning on speaking more to that in the months to come - so keep an eye out for more Nano Brow content. Speaking of new arrivals, I started carrying the Obagi line! You might have seen the buzz around their Nu-Cil Eyelash Enhancing Serum 20%, their Professional-C Serum, or their Daily Hydro-Drops Facial Serum (and trust me, the hype around those is REAL.) I wouldn’t dream of carrying a line at TBP that I couldn’t personally vouch for. I can confidently report that I’ve experienced transformative  results from this line, and I can’t wait for everyone to explore their product range. Lastly, I celebrated The Brow Project’s 8 year anniversary… which is a WILD thing to actually see written. 8 YEARS?! What’s the saying.. Time flies when you’re building something you’re truly proud of that brings you so much fulfillment that it doesn’t feel like work? Something like that. Regardless, I’m extremely proud of not just the past year, but the 7 years before that have led to now. So, what’s to come in 2025? For starters - a brand new service! Allow me to introduce you to our latest item to the Brow Project menu, the PICOSure Pro laser. To be totally transparent with you, this was f**king terrifying. Lasers are not something you, uhm, just casually purchase on impulse after one too many glasses of Pinot at 12AM. I knew this would be a daunting undertaking - but no risk, no reward, eh ;) What can this laser do? In short - everything (it’s not referred to as “ the Maserati of lasers ” for no reason, just saying.) Specifically, the services we offer are tattoo removal and skin rejuvenation. Have a tattoo regret? PICO can laser her away in just a few sessions. Skin feeling dull, textured & in need of a glow-up? PICO can deliver powerful results improving texture, pigment & fine lines. On a personal level, this year marks my 10-year anniversary with my partner, Ross, as well as my 35th birthday! If 2024 was the “Year of Growth and Evolution,” 2025 is the “Year of Discomfort.” But like I said earlier: no risk, no reward. Getting your brows done is a major moment—but achieving and maintaining that flawless look means following a few simple steps before and after your appointment. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with all the deets to keep your brows looking fresh and fab. Let’s break it down, so you know exactly what to do (and what not  to do)! Pre-Care: What to do Before Your Brow Appointment Before your appointment, it’s all about creating the perfect canvas. Follow these tips to ensure everything goes smoothly: Plan Around Waxing, Tinting, or Lamination : If you’re getting any of these treatments, make sure they’re done no later than 3 days before your appointment. Avoid the Sun : Skip tanning and sun exposure for at least 2 weeks before your session. Sunburned or flaking skin isn’t ideal, so if this happens, reach out to your artist 48 hours in advance to reschedule. Antibiotics : If you’re on antibiotics, you’ll need to wait until after your course is completed. Contact us if you need to reschedule. No Facials or Lasers : These treatments should be done 2 weeks before or after your appointment. Post-Surgery : Any cosmetic surgery near the treated area needs to be fully healed before we can work our magic. Botox Timing : Plan your Botox sessions either 10 days before or anytime after your brow appointment. Pause the Retinol : Stop using retinol on your forehead 2 weeks before your session. Skip Alcohol & Blood Thinners : Avoid alcohol, ibuprofen, or blood-thinning meds 24 hours before your appointment (unless prescribed by a doctor). Post-Care: Protecting Your New Brows After Your Appointment Once your brows are done, the healing process begins. Here’s how to keep them looking amazing: Be Gentle with Your Skin : Avoid skincare products with exfoliants, lighteners, or brighteners on your forehead for 10-14 days. Shower Smarts : Keep showers short, not hot or steamy. Think of it like trying not to mess up freshly done makeup! Avoid Treatments : Hold off on massages, facials, or saunas until your brows are fully healed. Stay Dry & Cool : Avoid sweating and direct sun exposure for 7-14 days. Hands Off : No touching the treated area—keep those hands clean and let your brows heal naturally. What to Expect During Healing Healing is a process, and it’s totally normal to experience the following: Peeling & Flaking : Your brows may look like they’re peeling off—don’t panic! This is completely normal. Temporary Unevenness : Some areas may fade more than others initially, but this will even out with time and touch-ups. No Picking! : Let the skin heal naturally. Picking at it can lead to uneven results. Important Notes to Keep in Mind Infection or Reaction : If you notice signs of infection, an allergic reaction, or any other adverse effects, contact a healthcare professional immediately. You can also report these concerns to the Texas Department of State Health Services  at 1-888-839-6676. No Makeup or Harsh Products : Avoid applying makeup, cleansers, peroxide, alcohol, or Neosporin on the treated area while it’s healing. The Key to Gorgeous, Long-Lasting Brows Pre- and post-care might seem like a lot, but it’s so worth it. By following these simple steps, you’re giving your brows the best chance to heal beautifully and look flawless for as long as possible.
